Lolita Goth Tea Party
Posted on August 16th, 2011 by admin
I always dug the Lolita Goth look when I saw pictures in books of Japanese street fashion and whatnot, but except in rare occasions (like say Comic Con or DEMF or the occasional couple at Nocturna), I never got to experience it firsthand so I was really hyped to get invited to shoot the 2nd Annual Midwest Lolita Meet and Greet. Obviously, I was floored by the aesthetics of the shoes and dresses and parasols and hair, but I was surprised to see how much the look extended to the picnic elements, the cupcakes and whoopie pies and tea cakes and cucumber sandwiches right on down to the blankets and baskets.
Unfortunately, a freak apocalypse storm forced the picnic out of Millennium Park and into the safety of the Cultural Center, where it seemed even more of an anomaly… if that’s possible.
