Juke Fest with DJ Funk
Posted on July 26th, 2010 by admin
For the second year in a row, Bang tha Box Recordingz got together with DJ Demchuk to throw Juke Fest. Juke Fest 2010 blew away all previous years, with heavy hitters like DJ Funk, DJ Gant-Man, and DJ Rashad playing the songs that they made that everyone thinks of when they think of juke and ghetto house (there was a lot of pump its, juke them hoes, hoes in this houses, get it from the backs, percolatorings, and pon de floors a gwaan.
The rest of the bill was filled out by a mix of newcomers and Chicago legends, including DJ Spinn, Bobby Skillz, Traxman, Chrissy Murderbot (whose My Year of Mixtapes juke mix is on constant repeat on my ipod), and Starfoxxx, who are becoming one of my favorite acts in the city.
I don’t know what this party would’ve been like anywhere else in the world cuz, but in Chicago with a local crowd, where even the whitest girls (and my lame ass) know a little bit of footwork, it was one of the best parties I’d ever been to, everyone was drenched in sweat with their asses in the air and it’s gonna be damn near impossible to top it for 2011 (unless we add Green Velvet to the bill, maybe some live vocal drops from Kid Sister and Mic Terror, maybe Major Lazer and Felix Da Housecat, or some retro sets from Crucial Conflict and the Outhere Bros, hint hint)
