The Eric Andre Show with Flying Lotus

The Bottom Lounge was the place to be for ridiculous Pitchfork Music Fest afterparties, from Danny Brown rolling balls and turning the whole dancefloor into a cuddle puddle at the tumblr party (check out our photobooth shots here) to iheartcomix and Adult Swim producing a live version of Eric Andre’s low budget talkshow set and systematically destroying it. Unfortunately for us, capacity and fire safety concerns had our booth moved out into the foyer, so we only got to enjoy the insanity in bits and pieces: Eric Andre jumping into the crowd naked, 50+ people piling onto the stage for a schizophrenic dance party provided by Flying Lotus’ cut-and-paste pastiche trap and high-energy rappers Calez, the smashed debris of Eric Andre’s desk crowd surfing towards the door as a nearly-nude old guy with a guitar pantomimed to Jimi Hendrix’s cover of “Along the Watchtower”. This was all taken out-of-context, but I don’t think being privy to the chronology would’ve made it make any more sense. This was the most I’ve ever felt like I was inside an Adult Swim cartoon without the help of pharmaceuticals.
