Video Party: Time Lapse video of Art War at Treasure Town

Posted on September 22nd, 2011 by eric

Art War was a great… experience, or even… #EXPERIENCE to be a part of. As a big immovable object with a bright-ish flashing light, we’re often shoved into corners during parties. Some of this is necessitated by space, and some of this is self-imposed, as in drunk people get reckless and fuck our shit up unintentionally. So it was a rare experience that we could participate in an immersive art experiment like Art War as part of art in the round.

In this time lapse video by A Sustainable Reality, you can watch most of the night unfold, the busy periods and the idle ones. The video begins after the sanctioned fight (the stage fighting demo) and ends before the unsanctioned one (when a drunk asshole forces some otherwise fairly chill Little Village cops’ hands).

At some points, our background and light blend in, or are enveloped by the crowd, in others, it is a highlighted monolith in an empty corner of the room, and in others, our busy strobe lights up the room in flashes like a summer storm. I think this is way cool and I’m very glad it exists.
